Beta Terms of Use
About these beta terms
These terms apply to the Commercial Image Unit private beta at studio.beta.imageunit.co.uk and beta.imageunit.co.uk, operated by Unity Consulting NW Ltd.
By creating an account from an invitation you agree to these terms and acknowledge the Privacy Notice. We keep a record of the versions you accepted and the time.
Invite-only beta
Access is by invitation. There is no public sign-up. An invitation is personal to the invited email address and expires if unused. Do not share your Studio password or MFA codes.
Account responsibility
You are responsible for the activity that happens in your Studio account and for the private share links you create. Keep your sign-in details safe. Tell us promptly, via privacy@imageunit.co.uk, if you believe the account has been misused.
Acceptable use
Use Image Unit for finished photographs you are entitled to store and show. Do not use it to:
- store or share material that is illegal in the United Kingdom
- distribute malware or attempt unauthorised access to Image Unit or other systems
- infringe someone else’s intellectual property or privacy rights
- abuse share links, scrape the service, or exhaust resources with automated traffic
- probe, overload, or interfere with the Viewer, Studio, or backups
Your photographs and content
You retain ownership, right, and title in the photographs and text you upload. Image Unit does not claim ownership of your images and does not take a licence to advertise with them, sell them, or use them to train models.
Image Unit operational licence
You give Image Unit a limited permission, only for as long as needed to operate the service for you, to store and process your files, generate display derivatives, show the work in Studio and through the shares you create, back it up, deliver authorised downloads and exports, and otherwise run Image Unit as described in the Privacy Notice.
That storage and display may include Cloudflare object storage and Cloudflare-hosted delivery of authorised image content, as described in the Privacy Notice. Access remains controlled by Image Unit share and Studio authorisation.
That permission is not a marketing or stock-library licence.
Private shares
Share links are intended for people you choose. They are not cryptographically private envelopes. Anyone who has a valid, unexpired link (and the password, if you set one) can open that share.
Choose expiry, password, download, metadata, maps, and Viewing Insight to match the situation. Recipients of a share with Viewing Insight enabled will be asked before individual viewing activity is recorded. You can revoke a share from Studio. You are responsible for whom you send the link to and for keeping the link as private as you need it to be.
Beta service
This is a professionally operated private beta. Features may change. There may be maintenance or temporary interruptions. We may contact you about service issues and may ask for feedback. We may change or end the beta.
Image Unit keeps off-server backups and operational monitoring. You should still keep your own copies of work that matters to you.
Availability, backups, and your copies
We aim to keep Studio and shares available, but we do not promise uninterrupted access or that a particular feature will remain unchanged.
Backups exist so we can restore the service after a failure. They are not a personal time-machine for every edit. Keep originals of photographs you cannot afford to lose. Studio export can give you original JPEGs and collection ZIP files while your account is open.
Prohibited content
Do not upload or share unlawful content, including content that exploits children, or content you do not have the right to use. We may suspend or close an account, revoke shares, and remove material if we reasonably believe these terms or the law require it.
Security
Do not attempt to bypass access controls, share tokens, or MFA. Report security issues to privacy@imageunit.co.uk rather than probing the live service.
Account suspension and closure
We may suspend access if these terms are broken or if we need to protect the service or other people.
You may ask to leave the beta and close the account by emailing privacy@imageunit.co.uk. There is no in-product wipe button today. Live access will be removed and shares revoked; backup copies may remain until backup retention lapses.
Image Unit software and design
The Image Unit software, Viewer, Studio design, and documentation remain the operator’s intellectual property (and that of any licensors). These terms do not sell you the source code. You may not copy the product, scrape it to build a competing viewer, or reuse the design as your own.
Feedback
If you send feedback, we may use it to improve Image Unit without an obligation to adopt it or to pay for it. Feedback is not a transfer of your photograph rights.
Liability and governing law
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under the law of England and Wales, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. These terms do not affect rights that cannot be excluded by agreement.
This invite-only beta is provided with reasonable care. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, and we do not accept liability for loss of photographs where you have not kept your own copy, except where we are not permitted to exclude that liability.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Ending beta participation
Either you or Image Unit may end your participation in this beta. Ending participation does not transfer your photographs to Image Unit.
Changes to these terms
We may publish a new version. The version identifier and effective date appear on this page. Newly invited users accept the version current when they join. Publishing a new version does not, by itself, lock existing members out of Studio. If a later version needs fresh agreement, Image Unit can require that before new invitations are accepted.

For privacy questions, account-closure requests, or these terms, email privacy@imageunit.co.uk. If you have an Image Unit account, write from the email address on that account so we can recognise the request.
